Michael Stewart

Michael Stewart – CEO / Co-founder

Mr. Stewart has 22 years of experience developing and managing the development of complex communications systems. His experience includes projects for defense communications satellites, commercial terrestrial microwave equipment, and audio signal processing equipment for television and radio broadcasting.

From 1986 to 1998, Mr. Stewart was a Communications Systems Engineer with TRW Electronics and Space Division in Redondo Beach, California. Mr. Stewart was the Subproject Manager for Payload System Engineering for a multi-gigabit digital communications satellite (Project 3290) responsible for payload integration and test, delivery, launch, initial provisioning, on-orbit calibration and verification . In 1995 he supported TRW business development in the Telecommunications Initiative where his responsibilities included proposal management and product management for a product line of point-to-point millimeter-wave radios.

In 1998, Mr. Stewart founded Escape communications to provide consulting and contract development of communications systems and related signal processors. At Escape, he is responsible for corporate management, business development, and project oversight.

Mr. Stewart received his BSEE Magna Cum Laude from Rice University in 1986 and his MSEE from the University of Southern California in 1988. Mr. Stewart is the co-inventor of one US Patent that received the TRW Chairman’s Award in 1999.

Gregory Caso

Gregory Caso, PhD – CTO / Co-founder

Dr Caso has 21 years of experience at algorithm development, simulation, and implementation of communication and related signal processors. His experience includes development of various digital synthesizers and receivers, coherent (QAM), non-coherent, multi-channel, and multi-rate modems, hopping and direct-sequence spread-spectrum systems, acquisition and tracking systems, coders and decoders, multiplexers and demultiplexers, and line interfacing modules. Dr Caso is experienced at both hardware (ASIC and FPGA based) solutions as well as software (DSP based).

From 1987 to 1998, Dr. Caso was a Communication Systems Engineer with TRW Electronics and Space Division in Redondo Beach, California. There he was a key contributor on projects such as low and high-rate PSK modems, multi-rate multi-mod-type demods, multi-channel demods, and beam-forming antennnas. Key projects included Milstar, Milstar II, Advanced EHF, Skycap, Astrolink, OISEL, and the Telecommunications Initiative.

In 1998, Dr. Caso founded Escape to provide consulting and contract development of communication systems and related signal processors. At Escape Dr. Caso is the lead architect and algorithm developer. Escape projects have included modems for wireless LANs, broad-band wireless access, broadband point-to-point microwave links, and most recently for multi-gigabit links in the millimeter wave bands.

Dr. Caso holds a BSEE (1987) from Texas A&M University, MSEE (1988) and PhD EE (1996) from University of Southern California. Dr. Caso is the inventor or co-inventor of 13 patents.

James Nadeau

James Nadeau – VP Engineering

Mr. Nadeau has 23 years experience in engineering, engineering management, product line management, and technical product marketing. From 1985 to 1995, he held increasing levels of responsibility in the development of various communications systems, including architecture definition, requirements definition, vendor oversight, customer interface, test planning, system integration & test, and field deployment, mainly involving large communication satellites.

From 1995 to 1998, Mr. Nadeau was responsible for managing R&D and product development activities for TRW's line of Gallium Arsenide (GaAs)-based multi-chip modules used in millimeter-wave broadband wireless access equipment. In this position, he managed a team of 20 engineers in a broad range of activities including basic semiconductor technology development, GaAs chip design, millimeter-wave multi-chip transceiver module development, and technical proposal writing. In this capacity, he was successful in capturing commercial contracts worth in excess of $20 million for TRW.

Mr. Nadeau joined Escape Communications in 1998, providing consulting services to the broadband wireless access equipment markets. In this capacity, he specialized in broadband wireless access system architecture, requirements definition, product definition, technical marketing and regulatory issues. In 2000, Mr. Nadeau joined Malibu Networks, a Venture-backed startup company developing an OFDM-based broadband wireless access system. As Director of System Engineering, he was responsible for building a system engineering team to provide system architecture definition, system requirements definition, and performance analysis. He was also responsible for managing all integration & test activities (30+ engineers) as well as managing product qualification.

In August of 2001, Mr. Nadeau re-joined Escape Communications to provide engineering management for all of Escape's hardware projects. Mr. Nadeau is responsible for all overseeing all aspects of product hardware development, including electronics circuit design, PCB design, mechanical design, prototype fabrication and assembly, integration and test, and product verification.

Mr. Nadeau received his BSEE (1985) from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and his MSEE (1987) from the University of Southern California.

Ted Pascaru
